High Frequency Rail (HFR) will change the way you travel. It will put you first while redefining the way you live, work and play. This new 1,000-km passenger railway will connect Toronto, Peterborough, Ottawa, Montréal, Trois-Rivières and Québec City. HFR will provide a modern, reliable and sustainable rail service for a more mobile, connected and growing population.
By running on its own tracks, HFR will enable frequent, faster and reliable service on modern, accessible and eco-friendly trains.
The HFR project will put passengers first with:
Better on-time performance and reliable service.
New service to Peterborough and Trois-Rivières, in addition to VIA Rail’s connections.
Special attention to city centre integration using existing and new stations, creating transit-oriented neighbourhoods and other development opportunities.
Improved integration with public transit, roadways and airports in Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal and Québec City.
Faster, more frequent service on electrified and dedicated passenger tracks.
