Noise and Vibration

A noise and vibration field study focuses on locations or areas where noise and vibration may significantly affect human health and the environment. This study will help HFR planners understand how to reduce potential harm during construction and operation.

Where are noise and vibration studies happening?

These studies will take place between Ottawa and de Beaujeu, just west of Montréal, and from Laval to Québec City along the north side of the St. Lawrence River.

Why study noise and vibration?

Passenger rail construction and operation bring noise and vibration. To reduce noise and vibration, the HFR project needs to measure conditions along proposed routes. Measuring noise and vibration levels before railway construction will help decision-makers to determine what specific protection is needed.
